I got Pokemon Y on Christmas which is later than I would've typically gotten a Pokemon game. It's worth noting that I've only made it up to Arti's gym in Pokemon White2. And in Y, I've just beat the second gym leader and stopped after that. Simply put, I've just lost interest in the Pokemon games and overall, I'm just losing interest in the franchise in general. Even the anime is boring me and at this point, I'm just keeping up with new Pokemon anime-related news from Pokemore's Twitter feed. I still will draw the characters and probably think of backstories for them but overall, I'm done.

I'm also taking a break from Nintendo as a whole. When Zelda Wii U comes out, I may consider getting it though first off I don't even have a WiiU. Right now, I'm mainly a pc gamer and I have Steam and I'm being exposed to games that I never got into or never would've gotten into. I've played Fallout: New Vegas, Rust, Minecraft and started playing Just Cause 2 and I'm glad to be exposed to new stuff.

I'm also kind of getting bored of drawing Misty and forget about doing ideas involving her. I felt they've all been done and I've just simply lost interest.

In the past 6-8 months I've discovered a new love of technology and programming. I'm also investing more time into serious painting, and money into music production equipment.

One of my goals is that once I figure out how to paint backgrounds, I'll do a guide and try to break it down to the core principles and that's the same with the Pokemon art tutorials. So often people are taught to draw with symbols and not shapes and forms. If you learn to draw in symbols, you'll only be able to draw from one view and not use what you learn to draw in multiple views.

Sadly, the more I've learned, the less confidence I feel in what I do.

I think it was the fact that Gen V was such a short and quick gen that it and Gen 6 kind of blur together. I mean it felt like Hoenn and Sinnoh went on a really long time, especially when they were originally going on.

As for the Pokemon anime in general, well, it is what it is. Ash's character should have been retired at the end of DP, if the writers actually let him win a league and challenge Cynthia back then. I think the problem is now is that all the new female companions feel like "repeats" of previous female companions now. Iris was largely a dragon type version of Misty, and now Serena feels like a mix of May and Dawn into one character.

It's kind of funny in a way. Back in 2003-2004 many people correctly predicted that Misty would never return to the anime as a main character, and that the original trio would never be reunited. Looking back at it now 12 years later, its so amusing all those people turned out to be right. It's kind of hilarious that people tried to make such a big deal out of Misty back then, even though she stayed gone ever since 2002, and her cameos stopped entirely by 2005...only three years later. The writers really weren't kidding when they said they would be getting rid of Misty for good.

I haven't watched the anime in full since DP ended either, but that's because I feel like I've seen enough of it now that it was a good place to stop. Even though I might like some of the newer characters in the show like Cilan, Clemont and Bonnie....I just can't emotionally invest myself in characters like I used to...so its not a big deal for me. Although it makes me wish these characters all existed earlier in the series...like if they got rid of Brock after the end of Johto and Cilan was there in Hoenn and Clemont was there in DP...would have been cool.
